I can control my mind

I know that I should try and control my mind but this can be a difficult thing. I have tried for many, many years and success seems to elude me. I have finally come to a discovery that my mind is my own after all and I could do with it as I please. The reality which is biting my buttocks is a lousy reality and I have been buying into that. No longer. I am no longer in the business of accepting other people's nonsense. It's my nonsense that I follow from now on. 

Here is some nonsense you can follow: music and the Philippines. They are equally good and just as equally full of nonsense. You can take your pick as to which is more relevant to you in your life. 

Mind Control

"Here be dragons", this is what ancient map makers put on their maps beyond the known universe, a very convenient way of completing their drawings. This is what the mind tells them to put, something strange in unknown lands.

It would be nice if we could just conjure up dragons and have them explain away things that we don't know. The human mind is being mapped and charted by modern scientists and already they are seeing some kind of correlation between electrical activities in the brain with certain behavior patterns.

There are some studies being conducted which involve feedback mechanisms that seem to have promise in controlling the mind. I would like it if I could truly control mind, to be able to make me creative and happy and not lazy and always feeling crappy.

Sittiing in Meditation

I have been sitting in meditation for many, many years and it appears to me that I have not been benefited at all from all this meditation. I did get a feeling from time to time that something good was happening but I promptly lost this feeling, thereby erasing whatever realization or progress I might have gained from all of these activities. The one thing tha I seemed to have developed was a sense of separation from myself away from the mechanism of thinking. It seemed clear to me that there are many sources of thoughts, i.e. when the stomach is hungry, it seems as if the whole being is hungry and the ego declares, "I am hungry" when in reality, it is only one portion of the body that is feeling this hunger.

Conversely, when one is wracked by guilt over something that one has done, it feels as if the whole entity is convulsed with this feeling and it cannot rise above it to rescue itself from this feeling. This is probably the reason why there is a need for analysts and psychiatrists. We cannot help ourselves because we cannot segregate the portions or parts of ourselves that generate the various thoughts and our egos or selves take full responsibility for what these parts or portions do.

Being able to watch and witness the actions that the different parts or portions of myself has allowed me to decide which ones to accept and which ones to reject as being foolish or destructive.

Not so easy to do

Mind control is not so easy to do. For one thing, the mind is the thing that controls so many things about us. How is this super-controlling thing to be controlled? Our minds make the thoughts that spur us to action. In a way we could say that our minds are the principal motivating factors in our lives. Sometimes or maybe even oftentimes we do things that we regret later and the common explanation is, "I do not know what I was thinking" or, "the devil made me do it". This happens to the best of us and seems fairly common. What is happening when this happens?

All I can conclude is that this business of controlling the mind is not a simple thing at all. The mind is very powerful and attempting to control it might be akin to moving a mountain if not more difficult. Is it therefore a hopeless enterprise? Can the mind be controlled? We know that the mind controls our actions and therefore by extension, it controls us. Who are we then? Are we our minds? Are we the lackeys of our minds? Do we give our stamp of our own self on every thought that comes to our minds?

Why do mind control at all?

To control the mind is easier said than done. The history of the world is replete with stories of those who tried and failed. Failure seems to be the norm when trying to control the mind. It is very easy to say the words concentration and meditation but to actually do that on a regular basis is akin to a pipe dream. To say that it is not easy, is an understatement. I have tried all kinds of concentration and meditation and after many years I still cannot say what it's all about. Staring at a flame only tires my eyes. Sitting in mantra meditation makes me sleepy or if not, makes me daydream. So, what really is the deal with mind control? Why should we do it?

Mind control is just like Ching's World. I did it even though it was difficult. Nobody believed in it and I still went ahead and did it anyway. Now, my mind is focused on Cagayan de Oro City and I will keep at it until it comes to its own. Cagayan de Oro City is more difficult than Ching's World because there are more competing websites and I have not even begun to see any kind of success. Still, I want Cagayan de Oro City to rise to the top. I will keep on churning until the butter rises to the top, so to speak.

Methods Of Mind Control

There are many methods which many masters or gurus or mentors use to try and control the mind. Many of these involve sound as in mantra meditation or visualization. I shall talk about many of these in future posts.
